What We Love Today…

February 18, 2015

Today we love the new look Thyme Out Delicatessen in West Didsbury – very contemporary with a splash of industrial. However, we also love that some things have stayed just the same. There’d be trouble if that breakfast changed 😉

Thyme Out Deli is located on Nell Lane and is open from 9am.

After almost a year, it’s fantastic that Bond Fashion is back on Burton Road, West Didsbury. It’s fantastic not just because they sell some really great fashion pieces, at very affordable prices, but because it means that there’s one more day-time retail business on the road. And for our independent high street, that’s brilliant news 🙂

The shop is back in business as from today – and with longer opening hours, there’s more opportunity than ever to spruce up your spring wardrobe. I’m particularly loving today, my gorgeous floaty number, which is available in a number of colourways and at the incredible price of just £15.00!

Bond Fashion is at 130 Burton Road, West Didsbury, right in between Cocoa Cabana & A Taste of Honey. Perfect!

Even on grey, foggy, damp days in Didsbury, my wall of clouds – Fornasetti II Nuvolette wallpaper by Cole & Son, if you’re interested – always makes me smile…

When we were renovating our house, we wanted to purchase as much as we could locally and from our independent businesses – a task made nice & easy because of the amazing shops right on our West Didsbury high street. This beautiful wallpaper is from David Gavin Design, on Burton Rd – although make sure you get a professional to hang it, as it’s a tricky pattern and comes in alternate rolls. Needless, to say, we didn’t even think about attempting it ourselves 😉

As it’s National Libraries Day, we’re going for a bit of book love today.

The Ginger & White Cookbook” – beautifully presented & with such easy-peasy recipes that even I’m tempted into the kitchen. “Moro East” – Moorish inspiration from an East End allotment, and again so beautifully presented with delicious photography. And, “Hip Hotels – Italy” – my bible for the day when money is no object 😉

You may know Didsbury’s Juliette Hamilton, who designs and creates the most amazing sculptures made out of willow. She regularly has a stall at the West Didsbury Makers’ Market (and Knutsford) and runs willow-weaving workshops. I’ve had my eye on a life-size cow she’s created, for some time, but lack of space has so far prevented me from purchasing Daisy – as I’m sure she’s called. However, her stags’ heads are just the perfect size for an indoor space and so at Christmas, this beauty arrived.

As well as her workshops, Juliette does do commissions – and she creates smaller sculptures too, such as the beautiful star, above. These are really inexpensive and are usually available to buy from Juliette’s market stalls. Today though, we are really loving our stag’s head which takes pride of place in the living room. And is definitely a talking point…
