A Metropolitan Breakfast

January 21, 2014

We’ve done a bit of travelling recently, and breakfasts have consisted of lots of sweetness – cakes, jams, croissants etc and I’m more into a savoury start to the day. So, when the Metropolitan launched their new breakfast menu – and kippers featured – we just had to give it a go. Kippers for breakfast always remind me of staying over at my grandparents as a child & in my book, you can’t beat a good kipper. So, hopes were high…

And we weren’t disappointed. The kippers would rank as possibly the nicest I’ve ever had. I don’t know how they do it, but there was no, well, “kippery” after-taste. They were really melt-in-the-mouth & with toast and tomatoes, very filling. The poached eggs with smoked salmon went down equally as well – and 10/10 for the consistency of the poached egg 😉

Breakfasts at The Met are served Monday to Sunday 10am to 11.45am in the Library – and if you do it during January, you can make a right morning of it with as many tea & coffee re-fills as you like.
