Launch of Manchester International Festival 2013

February 28, 2013

For me, Manchester is one of those places that absolutely captures your heart and is always coming up with reasons for why you have to stay. I shouldn’t ever have been here. 1984 saw me heading off to Sheffield Poly, but a change of heart, a year off & then a rethink saw me landing in Manchester a year later – and I’ve never left. What I’ve always loved about Manchester is that it’s gritty and northern – but can and will embrace art, culture, music and be at the forefront of trends and moods and fashions. It’s a city that has changed beyond recognition since I came – often not for the best. But usually for the best. And today, I absolutely remembered why I love this city that is now home. The Launch of Manchester International Festival 2013

A programme packed full of the most amazing & eclectic arts performances – including the undoubted highlight. Kenneth Branagh as Macbeth. Although now sold out for the performances in a deconsecrated church, on the last Saturday, the performance will be shown on a big screen in Manchester to a capacity crowd of 5000.

And, guess what? He was there! Yes, Macbeth was actually in Manchester today…

That's the head of Macbeth...

That’s the head of Macbeth…

The Manchester International Festival runs from 4th – 21st July – and tickets are on general sale from 10.00am Friday 1st March…
