LightsFest 2012

December 8, 2012

Well, we knew that our luck would run out with the weather at some point. Four September WestFests and we’ve had great weather – and for the last three West Didsbury Christmas Lights Switch-Ons we’ve been very lucky, even having snow two years ago. 2012 will be remembered, however, as the year we got a right old drenching. The heavens opened at 6.00pm – just as the Cavendish Choir were making their way down Burton Road with festive bells and tambourines 😦

However, a bit of rain was NOT going to dampen the spirits of the children or the people who turned out to join in the festivities. And, we had a very special guest appearance from the Big Man himself, who with our switcher-on-er, West Didsbury’s Diane Modahl, made this LightsFest one to remember – and which was captured beautifully by our photographer friend, the amazing Jonny Draper

With huge thanks to the following, who helped us make the event possible – all of the West Didsbury independents, who despite the weather, put on a show, West Didsbury Residents Association, Diane Modahl for starting the prize draw and doing our switch on, Jonny Draper, Ben Nixon for sound on the evening, Cavendish Primary School Choir & the staff for preparing the children, the West Didsbury Club for the shelter from the rain, Didsbury Police for being brilliant sports and once again really supporting our community event – and of course, Father Christmas himself! Until next year…
