The Reserve Big Summer Night Out…

June 26, 2012

Yes, I did say *SUMMER*. Although as we left the house on Friday night, it didn’t feel quite like summer. Heating on. Check. Winter style coat. Check. Umbrella. Check. And rain. Oh yes, rain, check and check again…

The venue for this year’s event, The Northern Lawn Tennis Club, was perfect. Or it would have been had the French doors been thrown open onto a sun drenched patio. But hey, it IS June 🙂

Undeterred Kate and the Reserve Team de-camped to the bar indoors – and the Summer Wine Festival went ahead! As with previous events, it was a sell-out and there was much tasting of new flavoursome wines.

The English Champagne – Gusbourne Estate (Kent),  Brut Reserve 2007 – was a personal favourite. And handily, you can get this at The Rose Garden, West Didsbury. Another winner was the Domaine Fritsch, Gewurztraminer (Alsace 2008) – at £20.50 perhaps more of a dinner party wine than knocking back watching TV.

If you didn’t manage to get a ticket, there are more Reserve events in the pipeline, most notably the legendary in-store monthly tastings. The very best way not to miss out on these is get yourself signed up for their newsletter – and so far this year they’ve had matching cheeses to wines, a tapas & sherry dinner, a trip through the fizzesof the world and meeting Australian, Portugese and Chateauneuf du Pape winemakers. There’s also a taster bottle (or two) opened every Saturday, so pop along for a mini-weekend-tasting!
