West Didsbury’s Open For Business

February 4, 2012

Quickie blog post today, just to counter the headline that appeared in yesterday’s South Manchester Reporter. In normal circumstances, could forgive this stab at a pun, but when we’re in the grip of a recession, maybe not the best thought out headline. Things are tough – as they are for practically everyone in business, but the current situation isn’t “sending us under”… And, a quick chat with the journalist involved revealed that the headline was the work of a sub-editor, NOT a business-owner.

Just a cursory glance at Didsbury Life would reveal what the businesses are up to – plenty going on and plenty of planning behind the scenes for the months ahead.

We have a partial closure on Burton Road for essential sewer repairs, but ALL businesses are completely accessible. The footpaths aren’t closed. There’s a big car park at Withington Community Hospital. We have an opportunity at the moment to  experience an almost semi-pedestrianised West Didsbury. Let’s make the most of it and show the local independents that we  support them 🙂
