‘Twas The Night Before Cavfest…

September 18, 2011

After months of planning, the weekend of Cavfest was here. And obviously, the weather forecast was exactly as we’d expected. After all, this was end of summer. And, in Manchester. So, this little graphic didn’t worry us in the least –

At 3.15 the school bell rang and with kids leaving the site, the festival set up swung into operation. Manchester Markets were quickly setting up the now familiar green & yellow gazebos, ready to be filled with food & craft stalls. A big thankyou is extended to Manchester Markets who provided all gazebos, tables and – their time – for free. A much appreciated gesture!

Suppose it’s not very often that you have a bar set up on a school field (although this little addition could have made my years as a teacher infinitely more enjoyable!) – however, as we’re all finding, Cavendish isn’t your ordinary, average kind of school. So, it wasn’t really that much of a surprise to see Simon & Lisa, from Greens, battling against some fairly strong gusts to get the bar set up…

It was literally all hands to the decks and pumps as the clock was ticking down. The stage looked amazing. Just like a proper festival stage. But on a primary school field. All a bit cool…

Lee and his gang from Blaggs DIY store on Burton Road, West Didsbury were on hand to do a bit of essential pruning and bark scattering – another great example of community spirit…

So, by Friday evening, everything was ready and CavFest was well truly ready to rock & roll. More in next blog, so watch this space…
