Steranko Clothes, West Didsbury is a bit of an institution on the independent retail front. Gusto Didsbury is a bit of an institution on the dining front. Put the two together, hosting an event for Didsbury’s Francis House, and you get a a bit of an evening…

This now annual event not only enables Steranko to showcase their Summer Collection, but also encourages that spirit of collaboration which we really like. Laura & John, of John Yates Hair Salon of Didsbury, gave up their evening to style models’ hair and many Didsbury businesses donated some pretty amazing prizes for the raffle. Although the word “raffle” doesn’t seem to do justice when prizes such as night in Didsbury House Hotel are up for grabs. And talking of the raffle, we decided that with so  many prizes being donated, we were bound to break our unlucky history of never winning anything, and duly passed over our money for a strip of tickets…

So, the raffle commenced. Table to our left won a meal for two and a bottle of wine from Alchemist, Manchester. Table next to them won a champagne meal for two from Gusto. Table in front of us won a huge bouquet of flowers. Table next to them won a £100 Daisy Imprints voucher. Table to our right won an electric Crock Pot. Our table – nothing. Nada. Good to see our run of never winning anything didn’t desert us…

Steranko’s Summer Season Clothing was showcased around the very packed restaurant – Gusto being a great location as it almost has a natural runway – and there are some very tempting pieces which you can get in store (172 Burton Road, West Didsbury) or online. There were plenty of little numbers suitable for a summer holiday or a festival – CavFest, for example…

All in all, a very enjoyable evening – which was brought to a close by a representative from Francis House who reminded everyone why the event happens, all proceeds from the evening going towards the building of a much needed new wing to the hospice. (And if you wish to support Francis House further watch out for details which will be released soon about this year’s Rock & Respite).

Huge thanks to also to Anthea and Danny from Gusto – even though the restaurant was full to the rafters, they kept things ticking over very smoothly.
