A Night With The Gypsies…

December 20, 2010

It’s probably not a surprise for me to confess that we love Silver Apples. We love the fact that it’s eclectic. We love the fact that Rob plays the kind of music you don’t normally hear in a bar (apart from maybe in our other favourite, Folk – but that’s another blog…)

But what we love more than anything is that you get to see the most uplifting, amazing and energetic live music there – and on a regular basis. We love one band in particular. Ladies and gentlemen, let us introduce you to The Gypsies of Bohemia –

We first came across The Gypsies of Bohemia when someone who worked with us for a while, went to a wedding and came back raving about the band who played at the wedding. Not being fans, usually, of bands who play at weddings, we were a bit sceptical. But, a quick look at their MySpace got rid of all doubts. Any band who has the balls to play “Toxic” by Britney Spears in the way that they do, get our vote…

We were delighted when Jim & The Gypsies agreed to allow us to use their version of  “If I Was A Rich Man” as the soundtrack to our WestFest2010 timelapse film – we knew we wanted something a bit quirky & unique, and this track certainly fulfilled our requirements.

If you’ve never seen/heard this band, you MUST check them out, next time they play in a venue near you. And if it’s Silver Apples, you can be sure we’ll let you know…

It still amazes me that you can see a band of this quality for FREE! Now that doesn’t often happen…
