A Little Thursday Night Jaunt…

Chorlton Green Christmas Market

Tonight saw us heading over to Chorlton to investigate the Horse & Jockey Christmas Market. We met with Peter Dalton, of the Horse & Jockey, a few weeks ago, and talked about the market. We were really impressed by Peter’s tenacity in securing a licence to operate a Market outside the Horse & Jockey. Now, you might think that securing licence would take a few weeks at the most. A bit of a hassle, but something that would come through fairly quickly. Wrong! It took nearly 15 months of planning, negotiating & form filling. Most people would probably think “Sod it” and move onto the next idea. Which is why we wanted to see what has been achieved – especially in light of the now ‘suspended’ Didsbury Food Market…

Let’s just say, it was a fusion of all things independent. Independent businesses operating within an independent food market. How much do we *love* this…

Quick dash back to Didsbury and we were in Silver Apples, just in time for Jazz Carols. And, even better, Silver Apples are now serving prosecco – by the glass. This is a result! And, the girls performing the jazz carols have to be commended. I defy anyone to create a jazz piano from what looked like two bits of 3′ x 4′ plywood – but they did! Amazing. A lovely start to the festive break…

This was a packed Thursday night – and not our usual Thursday night. Too often, we’re planning for the next day – school, meetings etc etc – but we decided to be  bit more ‘normal’ tonight & get out and about. So, off to Azzurro. If you follow what we do, you’ll know we are BIG fans of this little corner of Italy, right here in West Didsbury. As ever, it didn’t disappoint – and this year, you can get a table at Azzurro on Christmas Eve…
