It’s been very interesting watching the transformation of 230 Burton Road, West Didsbury. Not too long ago we were working with Mark at Novus, promoting some very lovely artwork, but things can change fairly quickly. Mark has left West Didsbury to develop his work as an artists’ agent and as result “And The Dish Ran Away With The Spoon” has moved in.

We really liked Anna, the “baker”, the moment we met her. She embodied the quirky business ideal that we love. She was keen to also work with other local independent businesses – again, we love a business that sees the potential in collaboration. We are delighted that already links have been forged with other local businesses – and there really seems to be a groundswell of good wishes for this lovely new enterprise.

So, tonight, with Si & Martin from Moregeous, and after doing a few collective extra-curricular duties (a bit of photography & filming prep at Green Tea Restaurant, Didsbury, installation of West Didsbury mosaic on the gable end of Folk Didsbury, draw of the winners of the WestFest Xmas Lights Prize Draw) , the four of us headed off to And The Dish Ran Away With The Spoon.

It was lovely to see the shop packed to the rafters. It was also lovely to see Anna & James’ vision realised – the vintage dressers, the very stylish window display (with beautiful shelving courtesy of Gregg from Cactus Design – watch this space!), the gorgeous counters, the retro accessories and the amazing cookies and brownies, all washed down with complimentary fizz.
