It seems like many moons ago since Jenny came in to see us to talk about updating  her profile on Didsbury Life, but in fact it was only about 10 days ago. 10 days ago, Jenny was probably wondering what she was going to be doing for WestFest. Was she going to do a special offer? A new dish on the menu? Should she open at a different time? So, she came to speak to us at Didsbury Life – and do you know what? Looking back, she clearly didn’t know us that well. But now she does!

An event for WestFest, she pondered. And, to be fair, she did actually mention the word, “refurbishment”. And there you go – her WestFest event. If you’ve been following this blog, you’ll know that we immediately contacted Chris, our designer, Gregg, the most lovely man in the world for whom nothing is too much trouble (and I am not exaggerating), and the wonderful Sian and her crack team of expert builders, electricians, plumbers and decorators. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Marcin did the cooking as well, on launch night!

So, a plan was formed and a team gathered and Green Tea Restaurant, as Jenny knew it, was no more. We’ve had a few hitches along the way – the discovery of a dry rot patch (now rectified), walls that needed replastering once paper was off, a cracked front window – but we’ve steamed ahead as we have a deadline. Jenny and Xiaona have been amazing – they’ve been so receptive to ideas and have totally thrown themselves into the project.

We’ve been recording images and thoughts along the way and these will eventually form a case study on WeAreLife. However, in the meantime, have a look at some of the images which show where we’ve come from and where we are currently at 9.30pm Tuesday evening – with THREE days to go!
